Yesterday we entered three relay teams into the Cavan Primary Schools Athletics Competition in Shercock. We had a mixed senior team, a girls senior team and a boys senior team. As well as this Lily, Amber, Ma'ake and Faolan ran in the 80m heats and Eva and Ryan ran the long distance of 600m. Ryan & Eva came 7th with over 30 competitors in his race and Lily came 2nd in her 80m heat and second overall in the final. Everyone had a great day in the sunshine.

Well done to the fourth, fifth and sixth class boys who participated in the Division 2 Cumann na mBunscol Blitz in Breffni Park last week. The boys played brilliantly but were up against tough apponents. A sincere word of thanks to Ms. Finnegan for taking the boys for all their training sessions after school and to Micheal Smith for helping out on the day. Thanks also to John Emo and Brian Crowe for refereeing on the day.

Well done to the second and third class boys who participated in the Pat Ryan Tournament on the 3G pitch at Breffni Park yesterday. The boys won all their matches and brought home the Pat Ryan 7 Aside Perpetual Shield which they also won back in 2014, 11 years ago. Pat Ryan was the Principal of St. Felim's N.S. in Cavan and every year St. Felim's N.S. organise this tournament in memory of Mr. Ryan. A sincere word of thanks must go to Ciaran Brady, teacher at St. Felim's N.

The children had a great day at the Breifne College Blitz yesterday on the 3G pitch at Kingspan Breffni Park. The fourth class boys participated in the blitz and reached the final and were runners-up in the end. The highlight of the day was meeting the President of the GAA, Mr. Jarlath Burns, who spoke to all the children on the day. Well done to all the boys on the wonderful football played!

Second Class made their Holy Communion on Saturday. It was a very special day for everyone. Many thanks to Fr Jordan for all his visits to our class over the year and to Jenny for helping with the preparations. We had some lovely cake from Glanmore Foods today and dressed up in our lovely clothes once again.

Today we had a great celebration of music at the school with our Music Generation Tin Whistle players, our School Trad Group who performed in Arás an Uachtaráin in December, Eibhlín on Guitar, Faolán on the fiddle, Willow on Electric Guitar, Clara doing some Irish Dancing and Danielis and Kajetan telling us a few jokes. Congratulations to all the sixth class pupils who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Saturday. We all welcomed a visit from the Patron of our School, Bishop Martin Hayes, to the school last Thursday and everyone had a great day on Saturday. All the pupils from junior infants to second class participated in Zumba yesterday for the first session of a five week programme. The children learned the 'Hey Margarita' song which I'm sure many of our parents know already!

Well done to the girls who won the Soccer League with their Ballyhaise Soccer Team over the Easter break and well done to Eva who got 'Player of the Match'.

Well done to all the children who won an Easter Egg in their class raffle and to Patrick in Senior Infants who won the Easter Egg Hamper. Congratulations to the five children who won an Easter Egg and a voucher for Café Mana, Smith's Diner or Cavan Swimming Pool for raising so much money in the Parents Association Sponsored Walk. The school raised €280 for Unicef last week with our colourful Friendship Day so well do everyone who supported it too.

The Senior Infant pupils, along with their teacher Ms. Finnegan and their SNA Grainne, are off to Croí Forest School on this beautiful sunny day for a day full of discovery and adventure.

The school boys soccer team are participating in the soccer blitz today in Bailieborough. They played lots of games and played extremely well. Well done to their coach Ms. Coey and thank you to Lisa for helping out today also.

Glanmore Foods, who provides our Hot School Meals, donated an Easter Egg Hamper for an Easter Raffle in the school. SuperValu in Cavan donated 8 Easter Eggs for our Raffle also. We wish to thank Niall from Glanmore and Daniel (Kajetan's dad) from SuperValu for their generous donations. The fifth class pupils visit the Junior and Senior Infants every Tuesday and Thursday for some Peered Reading and Peered Play activities. The infant classes love to see the senior pupils visit their classrooms and engage with them in a positive and fun way.

The Parents Association will be holding their annual sponsored walk on Sunday 6th of April at 11am in Killygarry GAA Grounds. Please return all your sponsorship cards and money by Friday 4th of April to be entered into a draw for a huge array of prizes on the day. We had a very eventful week in school. Each day had a theme to remind us to be: Thankful, Mindful, Look after our Well Being, Play together and Read together. Classes mixed together for Buddy Reading, Board Games, Skipping and Dancing and children got to know other children they didn't know before All in all a very friendly week! Today we celebrated Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, in the school with a prayer service in the GP room. Fr. Mac Gabhann gave us some blessed ashes which we blessed the children with. The Prayer Service was organised by our two Assistant Principals, Ms. O'Neill and Mrs. Mc Caughey.
