Shoe Box Appeal 2025
Today we handed over 104 shoe boxes to the Team Hope Charity who deliver these special gifts to children across the world who are in need of something special this Christmas. Well done to all the families who participated in this every worthwhile charitable event.

School Book Fair
The School Book Fair will arrive in the school on Monday 17th November and will finish up on Friday 21st of November. It will be open until 4:30pm on the Wednesday and Thursday for parents during the Parent Teacher Meetings. We appreciate your support as always!

Cash for Clobber Clothing Collection
There will be a clothing collection at the school on Thursday 13th of November. They accept pairs of shoes, handbags, belts, clothing and handbags. They do no accept duvets or pillows. You can leave your bags at the school gate each morning from Monday 10th to Thursday 13th of November. Thank you for your support.

Hallowe'en fun!
We had great fun today at school; starting with a video call with our Italian penpals for the first time this morning. We had a disco on the yard, we visited 6th class to see their amazing pumpkins, we played conkers and chess. We managed to fit in some treats and a party as well!

Loreto Blitz
Well done to all the girls who participated in the Loreto Gaelic Football Blitz on Wednesday 17th of September on the 3G pitch at Breffni Park. The team played great and reached the final but were marginally beaten in the end. Thank you to Ms. Mc Mahon for accompanying the team to this blitz and to the TY students in Loreto for organising this fantastic event.

Cross-Country Running
Congratulations to the 36 pupils who participated in the Cross-Country Running Competition last Wednesday in Killinkere. The children did incredibly well with Aisling in 5th class coming home with a gold individual medal and our senior girl's team winning gold also, a first time achievement for our school. Halloween Swap Shop
Our sixth class pupils are organising a fundraiser to raise money to purchase Leaver Hoodies for their class. They are looking for families to donate their used Halloween Costumes and they will sell them in the school on the 16th of October for €5 each. Please drop in any costumes to the school on the 13th to 15th of October and thank you for your support.

Cardboard arcade
After lots of hard work and much use of tape and cable ties, we were ready to open our Cardboard Arcade yesterday! Parents, family and school staff were our special guests as well as inviting every class to come and play. We had lots of fun and really enjoyed sharing our creations with our school community.

Killygarry National School will be accepting applications for enrolment from Monday 6th of October to Friday the 24th of October online through our school website or using the QR Code below. Applications will open from 9am on Monday 6th of October.

Cardboard Challenge
4th class have been inspired by the short film, Caine's Arcade. We are making our own cardboard creations; from cars, to games and ice-cream carts! We started today. When we finish, we will invite all our school community to come and play!

Skipping and Ice Cream
All the children had a great day on Thursday as they participated in a Skipping Workshop organised by Ms. Wynne and funded from money raised last year by the School Marathon. We ended the day with an ice cream or a slushie in the 25C sunshine.

Boys Division 2 Cumann na mBunscol
Well done to the fourth, fifth and sixth class boys who participated in the Division 2 Cumann na mBunscol Blitz in Breffni Park last week. The boys played brilliantly but were up against tough apponents. A sincere word of thanks to Ms. Finnegan for taking the boys for all their training sessions after school and to Micheal Smith for helping out on the day. Thanks also to John Emo and Brian Crowe for refereeing on the day.

May flowers
We went for a lovely nature walk yesterday and spotted lots of wild flowers. We picked these: herb Robert, purple clover, dandelion, daisy, robin run the hedge, buttercup, vetch, cuckoo flower and hawthorn blossom. Ella and Erin made pretty posies with their flowers!

Breifne College Blitz and Meeting the President of the GAA
The children had a great day at the Breifne College Blitz yesterday on the 3G pitch at Kingspan Breffni Park. The fourth class boys participated in the blitz and reached the final and were runners-up in the end. The highlight of the day was meeting the President of the GAA, Mr. Jarlath Burns, who spoke to all the children on the day. Well done to all the boys on the wonderful football played!

Music on Wheels 2025
Today we had a great celebration of music at the school with our Music Generation Tin Whistle players, our School Trad Group who performed in Arás an Uachtaráin in December, EibhlÃn on Guitar, Faolán on the fiddle, Willow on Electric Guitar, Clara doing some Irish Dancing and Danielis and Kajetan telling us a few jokes. Easter Egg Raffle and Parents Association Prizes
Well done to all the children who won an Easter Egg in their class raffle and to Patrick in Senior Infants who won the Easter Egg Hamper. Congratulations to the five children who won an Easter Egg and a voucher for Café Mana, Smith's Diner or Cavan Swimming Pool for raising so much money in the Parents Association Sponsored Walk. The school raised €280 for Unicef last week with our colourful Friendship Day so well do everyone who supported it too.

Easter Egg Raffle
Glanmore Foods, who provides our Hot School Meals, donated an Easter Egg Hamper for an Easter Raffle in the school. SuperValu in Cavan donated 8 Easter Eggs for our Raffle also. We wish to thank Niall from Glanmore and Daniel (Kajetan's dad) from SuperValu for their generous donations. Annual Sponsored Walk
The Parents Association will be holding their annual sponsored walk on Sunday 6th of April at 11am in Killygarry GAA Grounds. Please return all your sponsorship cards and money by Friday 4th of April to be entered into a draw for a huge array of prizes on the day.
