Last night we welcomed families to our school to have a look around our school for our Open Evening. Our sixth class pupils escorted our visitors around the school and the parents association helped us with the tea & coffee. Most of our school staff were here to talk to our visitors. The third to sixth class children made beautiful lanterns using recycled plastic bottles for a Gulliver's Parade to be held in Cavan town at the end of October. The school will be hosting an Open Day for all new pupils and new families to the school on Thursday 1st of October 2026. The Open Day will commence with an address from the Principal, Emer from Laochra Academy, Aiden from Cavan County Produce and Damien from the Parents Association at 7pm. The school will then be open to all parents to have a look around from 7:30-8:15pm and there will be tea/coffee and some refreshments served. We look forward to seeing you there!

Congratulations to our fifth and sixth class girls Gaelic Football Team who won the cup at the Loreto Blitz yesterday on the 3G pitch at Breffni Park. The girls won all their games and they had a great coach and mentor in Ms. Mc Mahon. Here are some photos of the winning team and some of our past pupils.

Well done to all our past pupils who won the U15 Division 1 Championshp last week and thank you for bringing in the cup for us all to hold and see.

This summer there was a lot of work done at the school. We got all our shrubs pruned, grass cut, new bark put down, the school power washed and painted, mud kitchens painted, new footpaths installed and new road surface put in and new signs put up around the school. We also got electrical work done inside, a new mural put up on the prefab and a new front door on our prefab. There is still more work to be done with new signs, pencil bollards and road markings to go in short

A sincere word of thanks to Maria, Litter Warden, and Cavan County Council for all the gardening equipment they gave our school today for our Polytunnel. We now have wheelbarrows, spades, shovels, rakes, watering cans, a hose, gloves and there's a water butt on the way. Well done also to all the children in fifth class who painted for us this week and to those parents who donated paint to the school. The school closes on Friday 19th of June for the Summer Break. We wish you all a fantastic summer break and we look forward to welcoming all the children back to school on Wednesday 26th of August and we particularly welcome all our new pupils to the school. There'll be a bit of work going on at the school over the summer so you'll see a few changes when you return!

All our sixth class pupils performed for their Graduation Ceremony last week in the school. The day began with a rehearsal, followed by food from Smith's Diner and we finished up with the Graduation Ceremony in the GP room where all the parents attended. It was a wonderful day!

The ice-cream van came today in the lashing rain but every child got to enjoy their ice-cream regardless of the weather.

At the end of May the two infant classes went on tour to Farnadolly Milk Barn, to Killykeen Forest Park and to St. Brigid's Church to see the stained glassed windows. They all brought their teddies for the Teddy Bear Picnic.
