Girls from 4th to 6th class recently took part in a basketball blitz in the old Army Barrack – organised by The Cavan Lakers Basketball club. New coach Alejandro Luiz Molinary, all the way from Spain, was in attendance. He will be coming to Killygarry school soon to give basketball coaching to our senior classes.

The girls won 2 out of 3 games. However, the emphasis of the day was not on winning, but on participation and hopefully getting the girls interested in playing the sport.

If any girl would like to join the Lakers, the club is currently enrolling new members:

Girls Under-10 (2007/2008): Sports Complex, Mondays, 5-6pm.

Girls Under-12 (2005/2006): St Patrick’s College gym, Mondays, 5.30-6.45pm.

Girls Under-14 (2003/2004): St Patrick’s College gym, Wednesdays, 5.30-7pm.
